Dannum Road Rally

Long Drive Pays Off

On April the 10th/11th Lindholme Motor Sports Club hosted the Danum navigational road rally.
The 150 mile rally took place in North Yorkshire, and the only local crew who entered made the long drive to Yorkshire in the car they were competing in.
Ludlow Castle Motor Club members Simon Mellings and Anthony Gluyas had a good start to the rally, and were lying in 3rd position overall before the halfway petrol halt.
Some tricky sections were on offer in the second half of the rally and a couple of navigational errors cost the pair time, losing them a few places. Other than that the pair had a trouble free run, finishing well and in front of rival championship contenders.
Mellings now moves to 2nd place in the Association of West Midland Motor Clubs Road Rally Championship after just four rounds.
Gluyas is currently in 5th place in the navigator’s championship.
The next round in the Championship is the Border 100 rally.
Simon would like to express his thanks for the continued help from McConnells of Ludlow, and to Eric Weaver (motor vehicle engineer, Ludlow) for preparing his Ford Escort 1800.
