DISIS STAGES ( MIRA )

Horiba d’ Isis Rally

Two Ludlow Castle Motor Club crews competed on Saturday 17th April on the Horiba d’ Isis rally.
The event was organised by Quinton Motor Club and was held at the MIRA proving ground at Nuneaton in Warwickshire.
This was a single venue event and offered approx 50 miles of good quality tarmac stages.
The rally was a round of three championships and attracted approx 80 crews.
It was the AWMMC AB Motorsport Heart of England Rally Championship that LCMC members, Eric Weaver/Andrew Sankey and Duncan Edwards/Colin Stevens were competing in.
After a manic week before the rally preparing the Darrian and a late night Friday night, fitting a new flywheel, Weaver/Sankey had quite a good result, despite a bad first stage where they lost 25 seconds. It was a dry hot day and Weaver was struggling with the tarmac just eating away at his tyres. After purchasing a harder compound tyre his problems were solved until the second to last stage when he picked up a puncture, which cost him the class win.
Meanwhile Edwards/Stevens had a trouble free rally, apart from tyres going off quickly, which seemed to trouble many competitors in the hot weather.
The rally claimed a lot of retirements during the day, with only 47 finishers, but Weaver/Sankey brought the Darrian home in 6th place overall and 2nd in class. Edwards/Stevens were 17th overall and 5th in their class.
The next round in the Heart of England Rally Championship will be the Welsh Rally over the Epynt Military Ranges on 2nd May.
