drystone road rally

Mellings fight back takes class win

Mid-Derbyshire Motor Club ltd once again hosted this year’s Drystone Road Rally, which ran on the 17th/18th July.

Local crew and Ludlow Castle Motor Club members Simon Mellings/Max Freeman competed on this event which was a round of the Association of West Midland Motor Club’s 2010 Road Rally Championship. Mellings/Freeman are not only contenders, but are fighting for first place honours.

The pair had a trouble free run all night and some competitive driving by Mellings saw him take the class win, beating other championship rivals.

With this result, they now move back up to joint second in the Championship with four more rounds to go. The next round takes in the Welsh lanes, classic road rally territory, on the 7th/8th August, for which we wish them good luck. Simon would like to thank McConnels of Ludlow for their continued support and Eric Weaver (Weaver Motorsport) for the preparation of the car.
