QUINTON STAGES RALLY
2007
Quinton Motor Club put on 7 competitive
stages last Saturday including Crychan Forest and the
stage used by Wales Rally GB, Route 60, over the Epynt
military ranges.
The Quinton Stages Rally was the 6th Round of the 2007
Silverstone Tyres BTRDA Rally Series.
The 100 starters did not have to face the horrendous wet
weather that we have experienced prior to the event and
Lyonshall’s Andy Burton left the other competitors
in his dust.
Continuing with the reliable engine used on his winning
run on the Severn Valley National Rally in May, Andy’s
crowd-pulling Peugeot Cosworth finished the event a clear
1 minute 18 secs ahead of second placed Damien Cole from
Hereford.
Ludlow Castle Motor Club had 8 members out on the event
but 2 were forced to retired just over halfway.
After their recent win on the Newtown
based Mid-Wales Stages bad luck returned to Shaun Gardener
and Ben Innes.

Shaun & Ben
After hitting a rock earlier on in the day the TNT Tyres
Mitsubishi Lancer EVO 5 broke a wishbone on Stage 4 putting
Shaun and Ben out of the rally whilst lying in second
place.
Stage 4 also claimed the Vauxhall Nova of Gary Scott and
Mike Scrimgour when it broke a driveshaft.
The other LCMC members produced some excellent results,
with Andrew “Maps” Sankey, co-driving for
Hereford’s Roger Chilman Jnr in the Subaru Impreza
WRC, finishing in 4th position O/A.

Roger & Andrew
James Wozencroft and Chris Ridge rounded off the top ten
in the Suzuki Ignis Super 1600.
Alex Allingham kept up his consistency of finishing events
with good results by bringing the Subaru Impreza home
in 12 place O/A.
Further down the field Adrian Allen
and Michael Wilding finished in 52nd position despite
some close encounters with the forest scenery.

Adrian & Mike
As usual on BTRDA Rounds, the 1400cc section of the rally
run in front of the open category.
Neil Weaver, co-driven by Nick Thornton, won this section
for the 3rd consecutive year on this rally, this time
in a Proton Satria.
Neil and Nick also finished 21st O/A despite power steering
failure, only being beaten by, in the main, much more
powerful 4 wheel drive cars.
